Ben Shneiderman, the author of this essential work, is an American computer scientist and a Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Computer Science. Born in New York in 1947, he attended the Bronx High School of Science and later earned his BS in Mathematics and Physics from the City College of New York in 1968. Shneiderman is a pioneer in HCI and information visualization, and his contributions have significantly shaped modern interface design. He is also the author of Leonardo’s Laptop, which won the IEEE-USA Award for advancing public understanding of computing technologies.
